campaign for real ale hinckley and bosworth this page is currently being updated -- welcome to the hinckley & bosworth camra website introduction formed in 2005, we were initially a sub-branch of the leicester branch of camra, and susbsequently went on to achieve full branch status in september 2008. using either the blue links in the text or the vertical grey menu bar on the left side of each page to navigate our website. from here, you can locate information regarding our upcoming beer festivals ( market bosworth rail ale festival 2018 ) and reports of previous years events ( hinckley beer festival 2017 ) and ( market bosworth rail ale festival report 2017 ). you can also find details of other beer festivals within reasonable travelling distance from the branch at ( local beer festivals ). find out details in our ( branch diary ) of meetings and social events, including regular mystery mini-bus trips, black country pub tours and visits to other beer festivals. there are also details of all the pubs and clubs in the area ( local pub/club guide ) and of ( locale pubs and discounts ). 2017 marked the 300th anniversary of the birth of william bass , one of hinckley's great brewers. in addition to william bass, william butler of mitchells and butler, was also born in hinckley, whilst the equally famous william worthington was born in nearby orton-on-the-hill, there were a series of events in the branch throughout the year, celebrating ( the three brewers ) and the unique association between hinckley and some of the most famous brewers in the world. the ( branch area beer history ) details the pub and club awards, information on historic pub interiors and lost pubs in hinckley and bosworth, and keep up to date with the ( latest branch news ). please also find time to follow the ( hinckley ale trail ) as there are great number of really good pubs in the town which are well worth a visit and will provide a rewarding experience. stop press: vote for poty, cpoty and coty by 21st february . see poty, cpoty coty voting form -- beer festivals traditionally the branch runs two festivals each year. the first at the end of july is the market bosworth rail ale festival operated as a camra event in conjunction with the battlefield line railway. the second is the hinckley beer festival which is normally held in september at the atkins building in the centre of hinckley. unfortunately for 2018, the hinckley beer festival will not go ahead despite every effort being made to save this event, as hinckley and bosworth borough council were unable to guarantee the use of the atkins building. alternative locations have been investigated, but because of timing issues and subsequent non availability of key festival organisation staff, it was decided that there will be no hinckley beer festival this year. however, the very good news is that the market bosworth rail ale festival is unaffected and will be held in july on friday 27th, saturday 28th and sunday 29th. there will be 80 real ales, 30 ciders and perries along with pimms and prosecco bars. real ales and ciders will be available onboard the steam train which will ne running frequently between shackerstone and shenton via bosworth station. entertainment is scheduled for all three days with hot and cold food available throughout the festival. there will be a number of steam locomotives, traction engines and commercial vehicles on display as well as the steam trains in operation throughout each day. camping is also available. go to market bosworth rail ale festival 2018 where the latest updates regarding beer and cider lists and confirmation of entertainment and other important information is published. this year's market bosworth rail ale festival organiser is jackie wallis festival organiser - market bosworth rail ale social activities nick robinson is again organising the annual church end brewery walk from the george and dragon in stoke golding to the ridge lane brewery. a few camra members have joined the walkers in past years and most have enjoyed it, with around 25 last year. this year the date is set for friday, july 6, meeting in the george at around 6pm for 6.15 departure. the walk is around 9 miles and takes approx 3 hours. with the exception of a couple of short pulls, the walking is easy and shouldn’t present any problems for anyone who is relatively hale and hearty. there are opportunities for refreshment on the way. most people usually stop at the malt shovel in hartshill;
